ALL NEW MEMBERS ARE, BY UNIVERSITY RULES, RESPONSIBLE FOR JOINING THE RAGIN CAJUN BOWLING CLUB ORGANIZATION ON ORGSYNC. TO JOIN THE ORGANIZATION YOU CAN CLICK HERE.
Team members must be full-time students (12 hours) with a minimal GPA of 2.0 for returning/transfer students. Team members must maintain full-time status to be eligible to compete for the university at intercollegiate competitions. To be eligible for a second year, students must have completed 24 credit hours the previous school year.
Each student is only eligible to bowl for the team for 4 years, per USBC Collegiate Rules. If any transfer students have competed on another college bowling team, they must sit out at least one year before competition.
Jerseys will be provided for all traveling team members but all members are responsible for providing their own slacks. Male bowlers are not permitted to wear jeans or shorts in tournament competition, therefore male bowlers are to wear BLACK slacks and UL RED slacks. Female bowlers must provide their own BLACK slacks, UL RED slacks, and BLACK finger-tip length bowling skirts. Jerseys will be issued to all members prior to competition and each person will be responsible for proper care. If at any time the coaches or officer ask for the jerseys back, for any reason, they are to be returned.
The team practices every Tuesday at 6:30pm and Wednesday at 8:30pm at Acadiana Lanes Bowling Alley . The weeks that we have tournaments we try to also hold practice on that Thursday night. During practice we practice the shots we will be using on certain oil patterns and we also practice baker, which we bowl in most of the tournaments. Practice is a time for trying out new shots and finding out what work best for us as a team, therefore we do like to practice without score. After all, practice isn't about who's the best or the worst, it is about making each other better.
Along with getting help from our coaches, we also help each other out with our bowling. Many of us bowl the same way, therefore it is very beneficial for us to help, not criticize, one another.
Consuming drugs or alcohol during or before any team events including qualifying, practice, tournaments, or fundraisers is expressly forbidden.
ANY MEMBER WHO DOES NOT FOLLOW THESE RULES WILL IMMEDIATELY BE DISMISSED FROM THE TEAM.
